Grand Tours of the Scottish Islands (2013)
S3E3 Island Solitude: The Summer Isles, Handa and the Shiants
Episode Overview
Off the west coast of Scotland lies a cluster of islands so secluded they seem nearly forgotten, home to only a handful of resilient inhabitants. Paul embarks on an adventure across the Sea of the Hebrides, exploring the Shiants, then heading east to the enchanting Isle of Ewe and the picturesque Summer Isles, eventually arriving at the dramatic cliffs of Handa. Throughout his journey, Paul dives at Scotland’s first 'scallop ranch,' kayaks to the Summer Isles, and explores the hauntingly beautiful Gruinard Island, which was once selected as the site for Britain’s biological warfare tests during World War II.
